The types of injury suffered by sportsmen or women do not differ from
those caused by other activities—digging, dancing, and repetitive
strain for example. The damage to the tissues is the same and so are
the principle massage techniques but their application may be different.
Massage can be aimed at reducing spasm and inducing general musculo-skeletal
relaxation or be directed at problem areas to improve complete recovery.
